Coulstone is a small place in the western part of Dent County, in the state of Missouri, United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
Where is Coulstone Located?
Coulstone is situated right next to the border between Dent County and Texas County. You can find it along Missouri Route 32, which is a main road in the area.
Nearby towns include Licking, which is about 5.5 miles (8.9 kilometers) to the west. Salem is another town, located about 14 miles (23 kilometers) northeast along Route 32. A stream called Pigeon Creek also flows near the community.
A Glimpse into Coulstone's Past
Coulstone has a bit of history, especially regarding its communication services. The community once had its own post office. This post office was open for many years, from 1888 until 1945.
The name "Coulstone" was given to the community to honor a local person. It was named after W. R. E. Coulstone, who owned a store in the area.
