The Story of Country Time
How Country Time Started
Country Time lemonade drink mix first came out in 1975. It was created by a company called General Foods. Over time, new and exciting flavors were added. These included pink lemonade, raspberry lemonade, and strawberry lemonade.
Changes in Ownership
In 1981, another company, A&W, got permission to make Country Time drinks. They made the bottled and canned versions that were ready to drink. Later, in 1989, General Foods joined with Kraft Foods. This meant that Country Time became a brand owned by Kraft, and Kraft still owns it today.
Country Time and Racing
Country Time has also been involved in NASCAR car racing. They started sponsoring race cars in 1989. A famous driver named Michael Waltrip drove a Country Time sponsored car and finished in the top five. Another well-known driver, Neil Bonnett, also drove a Country Time car. He was practicing for the 1994 Daytona 500 race when he had a crash.
New Drink Options
In 2007, Country Time introduced new versions of their drinks. These were called Country Time Lite Lemonade and Lite Pink Lemonade. They had half the sugar of the regular drinks. This meant they had fewer calories, about 35 calories per serving.
In April 2012, a company called Sodastream added Country Time flavors to its products. Sodastream makes machines that let you make your own soda at home. Now, people could make Country Time drinks using their Sodastream machines.
