Crandall, South Dakota facts for kids
Crandall is a small place in South Dakota, United States. It's known as an 'unincorporated community.' This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially part of a city or town. It's located in Day County.
What is Crandall's History?
Crandall got its start a long time ago. A post office was opened there in 1908. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open for a long time, finally closing its doors in 1973.
The community was named after a person named Walter S. Crandell. He was related to an important official who worked for the railroad. Interestingly, there was a small mistake when the name was first written down. It was spelled "Crandall" instead of "Crandell," and that spelling was never changed!
