A Look at Its Past
Crawford has been around for a long time. A post office was first opened here in 1838, which means people were living and sending mail from Crawford way back then! This post office served the community for many years, finally closing in 1920.
The community of Crawford was named after a brave soldier named William Crawford. He lived from 1732 to 1782 and was a soldier during the American Revolutionary War. Sadly, William Crawford died during a conflict with Native Americans near this area. The community was named in his honor to remember his role in history.
