Crisp, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Crisp was once a small town in Dade County, Missouri, located in the U.S. state of Missouri. Today, it is considered an extinct town or a "ghost town." This means that most or all of its people have moved away, and the buildings might be gone or in ruins.

What Was Crisp?

Crisp was a place where people used to live and work. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) still lists it as a "populated place," even though it's no longer active. This helps keep track of historical locations.

A Look at Its History

The community of Crisp was named after a pioneer citizen named John Crisp. Pioneers were some of the first people to settle in a new area. A post office was opened in Crisp in 1893. This was an important part of any town, allowing people to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years until it finally closed in 1957. After the post office closed, the town slowly faded away.
