Cristóbal de Mesa (born in Fregenal de la Sierra on October 15, 1556, and passed away in Madrid on September 27, 1633) was a Spanish poet and writer. He lived during a time when art and literature were very important.

Cristóbal de Mesa studied at the famous Salamanca University. He became friends with other well-known poets of his time, like Fernando de Herrera and Torquato Tasso. Besides writing his own long poems, called epics, he also translated the works of an ancient Roman poet named Virgil from Latin into Spanish.
