Cristiano Araújo's Music Journey
Starting His Career
Cristiano Araújo grew up in Goiás, Brazil, and loved sertanejo music from a young age. His family was very musical, with four generations of singers and musicians. His parents, João Reis and Zenaide Melo, really helped him follow his dream of becoming a musician. They even bought him his first guitar when he was just 6 years old!
By the time he was 9, Cristiano was already performing in public shows. At 10, he started writing his own songs. When he was 13, he recorded his first music collection (called an EP). He even performed it on a popular Brazilian TV show called "Festival do Faustão." His music quickly became popular, reaching No. 6 on the local charts. He was then asked to put one of his songs on a special CD for "young talents," which helped him become known across the country.
Singing with His Sister
As a teenager, Cristiano kept appearing on TV shows and at big events. When he was 17, he formed a music duo with his twin sister, Ana Cristina. For the next six years, they recorded many songs and performed together. However, they mostly became known in their local area and didn't achieve big success across the country.
Going Solo
In 2010, at 24 years old, Cristiano Araújo decided to start a solo career. He had bigger plans for his music! He began performing with famous sertanejo artists and duos to get ready for his own live CD and DVD.
In early 2011, he released his first solo album, Efeitos. This album featured other popular artists like Gusttavo Lima, Humberto & Ronaldo, and Jorge from the famous duo Jorge & Mateus. With a lot of encouragement from his long-time friend Jorge, Cristiano decided to go on a country-wide tour. At the busiest time of his tour, he performed about 20 shows every month to huge, sold-out crowds. In just one year (2011–2012), he performed 117 shows!
Because of all his new fame, Cristiano was invited to the popular talk show Domingão do Faustão. This opened doors for him to perform at big Brazilian events, like the Sertanejo Pop Festival in 2012. After that, he released a live album and DVD called Ao Vivo em Goiânia. This album included collaborations with well-known acts such as Bruno e Marrone, Fernando & Sorocaba, and Israel & Rodolffo. In 2013, he released his first studio album, Continua.
In 2014, he released his last DVD, titled In The Cities. This was recorded live in Cuiabá, Brazil. The show had a huge stage with over 40 tons of equipment and the latest technology. A special app was even launched for the event, allowing the audience to interact directly. The recording of this big show also featured a special guest, the international artist Ian Thomas, who was only 17 years old at the time.
Sad Passing
Cristiano Araújo, who was 29, and his girlfriend, Allana Moraes, 19, passed away in a car accident on June 24, 2015. The accident happened early in the morning when the car they were in went off the road and rolled over on a highway in Goiás, Brazil. Cristiano was returning from a show when the accident occurred. He was taken to a hospital but sadly did not survive. Allana passed away at the scene.
A public wake was held on the same day so fans could say goodbye. Both Cristiano and Allana were buried the next day in the same cemetery.
