Her Life and Music
Cristina Spinei was born in Connecticut. She started playing the piano when she was 9 years old. She went to the Juilliard School, a very famous music school. There, she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees. She studied with a well-known composer named Christopher Rouse.
A Grammy award-winning composer, José Serebrier, once called her "one of the most talented young composers in America." Cristina has received many awards for her music. These include grants from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and the American Music Center. She also won awards from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts.
Cristina's ballets and other musical pieces have been performed all over the United States and in other countries. She also performs her own music. For example, she performed with the Nashville Ballet in 2017, 2018, and 2020.
