Crocker is a small, unincorporated community located in Polk County, Iowa, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a settlement that isn't part of an official city or town government.
History of Crocker
Crocker has an interesting history, even though it's a small place. It was officially planned and marked out, or plat-ted, in 1880. This means its streets and lots were drawn on a map.
The community got its name from Crocker Township, which is also located in Iowa.
A post office opened in Crocker in 1882. This was an important place where people could send and receive mail. However, the post office closed down in 1918.
Over the years, Crocker's population changed. In 1902, about 48 people lived there. By 1925, the population grew slightly to 50 residents. Later, in 1940, the number of people living in Crocker decreased to 20.
