Did you know that croquet was once an Olympic sport? At the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, three different croquet events were held. This was the only time croquet was part of the official Olympic Games!
Ten players competed in total. Seven men and three women took part in these historic games. All the athletes who competed were from France.
The first event was the doubles competition. It's not clear if the French team that won had any other teams to play against. The next week, the one-ball singles game was played. A week after that, the two-ball singles event took place. Since all the players were from France, they won all the medals!
Even though croquet was only in one Olympics, a similar game called roque was played at the 1904 Summer Olympics.
