Cross Plains is a small, unincorporated community located in Brown Township, within Ripley County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. Being "unincorporated" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
History of Cross Plains
Cross Plains began in the year 1826. It got its name because two important roads crossed paths right where the community was built. A post office opened there in 1826 and has been helping people send mail ever since.
