Crotram is a Croatian group of two companies. They are famous for building the first Croatian low-floor trams. These trams are called the TMK 2100 and the TMK 2200. The two companies in the group are Končar and TŽV Gredelj. Both are from Zagreb, Croatia.
Končar does most of the work. They design the trams, handle the electrics, and put everything together. TŽV Gredelj mainly builds the bodies for the trams. Another company, Đuro Đaković, was part of the group at first. However, they left early in the project. After that, German companies took over making parts like the hydraulics and bogie mechanics (parts of the wheels and suspension).
TMK 2100 Trams
The TMK 2100 is a type of tramcar built by Končar and TŽV Gredelj. These trams were made between 1994 and 2003. They used some parts from an older tram model called TMK 201. The very first TMK 2100 was built in 1994. Regular production started in 1997. The city of Zagreb ordered and received 16 of these trams.
TMK 2200 Trams
The TMK 2200, also known as NT 2200, is a modern low-floor tram. Low-floor trams are great because they make it easier for everyone to get on and off, including people with strollers or wheelchairs. These trams operate in Zagreb, which is the capital city of Croatia.
In 2003, ZET, Zagreb's public transportation company, needed new trams. The Crotram group won the competition to build them. They offered a lower price compared to other big companies like Siemens and AnsaldoBreda. ZET ordered 70 of these TMK 2200 trams.
TMK 2200 K Trams
The TMK 2200-K is a shorter version of the TMK 2200 tram. Two of these shorter trams have been delivered. The city of Liepāja in Latvia is set to receive 14 of them. ZET, the Zagreb transportation company, is also planning to order 60 more of these shorter trams. In ZET's records, the TMK 2200-K is listed as the TMK 2300.
