Cuba was officially planned and marked out on a map in the year 1814. This process is called "platting." It means someone laid out the streets and lots for the community.

It's a bit of a mystery why the community was named Cuba. No one is quite sure where the name came from! The post office in Cuba has been open for a very long time, serving the community since 1826.
