How Did Cubage Get Its Name?
The name "Cubage" has a really interesting story! Long ago, people say someone carved the words "cub bear killed here" onto a beech tree. Because of this, the area became known as "Cub Beech." Over time, the name changed a little and became "Cubage."
A post office was first opened in Cubage in 1879. This was a very important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1989.
