The History of Cubbage Pond Mill
For a long time, a special building called Cubbage Pond Mill stood right here. It was built around the year 1785. Two people named John and William Draper were the original builders.
Mills like this were very important in the past. They used the power of flowing water to turn big wheels. These wheels then powered machinery inside the mill. This machinery could grind grains like corn or wheat into flour. Sometimes, mills were also used to saw wood into lumber.
The mill at Cubbage Pond was last run by Samuel Cubbage. He operated it from 1908 until 1917. After he passed away in 1917, his wife, Ida, inherited the mill.
