Discover Cull Island
Cull Island is a small, uninhabited island. This means no people live there permanently. It's a natural home for different kinds of animals.
Wildlife on the Island
Even though no humans live on Cull Island, it's full of life! You can find a group of wild goats roaming freely across the island.
The island is also home to a colony of little penguins. These small birds use the island as a safe place to live. It's also one of the main nesting spots for the Cape Barren goose. These geese come to Cull Island to lay their eggs and raise their young.
The Island's Lighthouse
In the middle of Cull Island, there's an unmanned lighthouse. It sits on top of a small white hut. The hut is about 3 metres (10 ft) tall.
The lighthouse was first put in place in 1965. Back then, it used an acetylene-powered light. But in 1984, it was updated. It now uses an automatic solar-powered light that flashes. This helps guide ships safely around the area.
