Culver was founded in the 1890s. It was named after A. H. Culver, who owned a store in the area. Many small towns like Culver grew up around local businesses and services.
The Post Office
A post office was opened in Culver in 1894. Post offices were very important for communities back then. They helped people send and receive letters, which was the main way to communicate over long distances. The Culver post office stayed open for about seven years, closing in 1901. After the post office closed, the town slowly faded away.
