Curiel de Duero is a small town in Spain. It is located in the province of Valladolid. This province is part of a larger region called Castile and León.
The town covers an area of about 18.75 square kilometers. Around 126 people live there. Curiel de Duero is part of an area known as Valle del Cuco. Other nearby towns also belong to this valley.
Long ago, in 1900, many more people lived here. The population was about 590 at that time.
The main jobs in Curiel de Duero are farming and raising sheep. People grow grapes for wine. There are also several wineries in the town. These wineries make special wines from the Ribera del Duero region.
History of Curiel
Curiel de Duero has a very old and interesting history. It was once an important center for its local area. People sometimes called it "Curiel of the Garlics." This was because of the excellent garlic grown there.
The town is also known for its historic castle. This castle is the oldest fortress in the province of Valladolid. It was built a very long time ago, in the seventh century. The castle was first written about in the eleventh century.
