Curtis Island is a small island located right outside Camden Harbor in Camden, Maine, United States. It's a beautiful spot that protects the harbor and is known for its historic lighthouse.

The island got its name in 1934. It was named after Cyrus H. K. Curtis. He was a famous publisher who owned the Saturday Evening Post magazine. Mr. Curtis lived in Camden for a long time and was very generous to the town.

What's on Curtis Island?

On the southwestern tip of Curtis Island, you'll find a historic lighthouse and a house for the lighthouse caretaker. The light from this lighthouse helps boats find their way safely into Camden Harbor.

There are also nice paths on the island. You can walk along two paths that go around each side of the island. There's also a grassy path that goes right down the middle. It's a great place for a quiet walk and to enjoy nature.

The lighthouse on Curtis Island is so famous that it has even been featured in art! A well-known artist named Fitz Henry Lane painted it. His painting is called Lighthouse at Camden, Maine. This shows how important and beautiful the island and its lighthouse are to the area.
