Cuthbert Hacket started his journey in London's government on September 26, 1616. He was chosen as an Alderman for the Portsoken area. An alderman was a senior leader in the city's government.

He also served as Sheriff of London from 1616 to 1617. The Sheriff was a key official, helping to keep law and order. In 1624, he became an alderman for the Bridge area.

In 1626, Cuthbert Hacket reached a very high position. He was elected Lord Mayor of London. At the same time, he was also the Master of the Drapers Company. For his service, he was made a knight on May 20, 1627. This meant he was then called "Sir Cuthbert Hacket."

Sir Cuthbert Hacket married Judeth Woar. Her father, Richard Woar, was also a dyer from London.
