Cynthia Carter DeFelice (born December 8, 1951 – died May 24, 2024) was an American author. She wrote many books for young people. She created 16 novels and 12 picture books. Her novels were mostly for kids aged nine to twelve.

Cynthia DeFelice was born in 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her dad was a doctor who helped people with their minds. Her mom was an English teacher. She stopped working to take care of Cynthia and her brothers and sisters. Cynthia often said her mom helped her love books and reading.
She went to William Smith College and finished in 1973. One of her brothers was Ashton Carter. He later became a very important person in the U.S. government.
Becoming a Writer
Cynthia DeFelice started writing books for kids in 1987. She lived in Geneva, New York, for many years. She passed away on May 24, 2024.
