About the Clouded Indian Gecko
What Does It Look Like?
The clouded Indian gecko has a head that looks quite big compared to its body. Its snout is longer than its eye, and its ear openings are oval-shaped. Its body is short and not very flat. It has medium-sized legs and short, thick toes. These toes have special wide plates underneath them, which help the gecko grip surfaces.
The gecko's head is covered with tiny bumps, like small grains, which are bigger on its snout. Its body is also covered with these small bumps, sometimes mixed with rounder, rougher bumps called tubercles. The scales on its belly are small, round, and overlap like roof tiles. This gecko does not have special pores on its thighs or near its tail.
Its Tail and Colors
The tail of the clouded Indian gecko is round and gets thinner towards the end. It might even be able to grab onto things with its tail! The tail is covered with small, smooth scales that overlap.
This gecko is usually light brown. It has different brown spots or bands across its body. These markings often become darker, almost black, at their edges and might have a thin lighter border. Its head often has swirly brown patterns or spots, and a brown stripe usually runs through its eye. The underside of the gecko is whitish, and its throat might have a brown net-like pattern.
Where Does It Live?
This gecko species is found in central and eastern parts of India.
