Cédric Gracia's Early Life and Career
Cédric Gracia started his sports journey very young. At just six years old, he was already a BMX rider. Later, he became a professional freestyle skier. After these sports, Cédric found his passion in mountain biking.
Becoming a Pro Mountain Biker
Cédric Gracia joined the world of professional mountain biking in 2001. He was part of the Volvo/Cannondale team back then. He competed in two main types of races: downhill and four-cross (4X). These races are part of the UCI World circuit, which is a big international competition.
From 1999 to 2005, Gracia rode for the Rainer-Wurz Siemens Cannondale team. In 2006, he moved to the Commencal team.
Big Wins and Achievements
One of Cédric's biggest wins was in 2003. He won the Red Bull Rampage. This is a huge freeride competition held in Utah, known for its challenging mountain courses.
In 2008, Cédric was a special guest editor for a magazine called Mountain Biking UK (MBUK). He also took part in the new Red Bull Rampage: Evolution event that year. He also won the Crankworx 4X competition. Cédric also won urban races in places like Brazil, Paris, and Chile.
Starting His Own Team
In 2010, Cédric Gracia decided to create his own team. He called it the CG Racing Brigade. For the first year, he was the only rider on his team. In 2011, Marcelo Guttierez joined the team. Marcelo was the Colombian National Champion. They were among the few riders using a special carbon V-10 downhill bike during the 2011 season.
Facing Challenges and Retirement
In 2012, Cédric had a very serious crash. This happened during practice at a World Cup race in Val Di Sole, Italy. He faced a difficult recovery after this accident.
In 2013, Cédric Gracia announced something important. At the Vallnord World Cup race, he shared that he was retiring from World Cup downhill racing. He wanted to focus on making "movie parts with big jumps." He also wanted to spend more time on Enduro racing, which is another type of mountain biking.
