Cédric Gracia (born 23 March 1978) is a famous French mountain biker. He was born in Pau, France, and now lives in Andorra. Cédric is known for his exciting riding style and for competing in many different types of mountain biking.

Cédric Gracia's Sports Journey

Cédric Gracia started his sports journey at a very young age. When he was just 6 years old, he was already a BMX rider. Later, he became a professional freestyle skier, showing off amazing tricks on the slopes.

Eventually, Cédric found his true passion in mountain biking. He became a professional mountain bike rider in 2001. He quickly made a name for himself in the sport.

Racing Styles: Downhill and Four-Cross

Cédric is famous for racing in two exciting mountain bike styles: downhill and four-cross (often called 4X).

  • Downhill is all about racing down steep, challenging trails as fast as possible. Riders face big jumps, rocks, and roots.
  • Four-cross is a race where four riders go head-to-head down a special track. This track has jumps, turns, and other obstacles.

Cédric rode for several top teams during his career. He was part of the Volvo/Cannondale team when he first turned pro. Later, he joined the Commencal team in 2006.

Winning the Red Bull Rampage

One of Cédric's biggest wins was in 2003 at the Red Bull Rampage. This is a huge freeride competition held in Utah, USA. Freeride mountain biking is about riding down natural, steep terrain. It often involves big jumps and daring stunts. Winning the Red Bull Rampage showed Cédric's incredible skill and bravery. He also took second place in the Red Bull Rampage in 2002.

Other Achievements and Projects

Cédric Gracia has been involved in many other projects. In 2008, he was a guest editor for the 20th-anniversary issue of Mountain Biking UK (MBUK) magazine. He also took part in the new Red Bull Rampage: Evolution event that same year. Cédric has won other competitions too, like the Crankworx 4X event and urban races in places like Brazil, Paris, and Chile.

CG Racing Brigade Team

In 2010, Cédric Gracia decided to start his very own mountain bike team. He called it the CG Racing Brigade. For the first year, Cédric was the only rider on his team.

In 2011, another talented rider joined the team: Marcelo Guttierez from Colombia. Marcelo was the Colombian National Champion. Together, they were some of the few riders using a special carbon downhill bike called the V-10 during the 2011 season.

Retirement from World Cup Racing

In 2012, Cédric had a serious accident during practice at a World Cup race in Italy. He was badly injured but thankfully recovered.

In 2013, at the Vallnord World Cup race, Cédric announced he would be retiring from World Cup downhill racing. He decided to focus on other exciting parts of mountain biking. This included making "movie parts with big jumps" and competing in Enduro races. Enduro racing combines downhill sections with uphill pedaling, testing a rider's all-around skills.
