D'oh! facts for kids
D'oh! (sometimes written as annoyed grunt) is a very famous phrase from the popular animated TV show The Simpsons. It was created by the main character, Homer Simpson. This funny sound is used when Homer hurts himself, realizes he did something silly, or when something bad happens to him. Often, he will also do a facepalm (slap his forehead) at the same time.
The phrase became so well-known that it was even added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2002. Other characters in The Simpsons also use "D'oh!", especially Homer's son, Bart Simpson. Homer sometimes changes the phrase a little bit. For example, in The Simpsons Movie, he shouted "D'oooooome!" when his town was trapped inside a giant glass dome.
