D'Lo Brown's Wrestling Journey
Starting Out (1994–1997)
Connor began his wrestling career in New Jersey. He first appeared in the WWF in 1994. He was a "jobber," which means he would lose matches to make other wrestlers look strong. This helped him gain experience.
Later, he became a security guard for a wrestling group called The Gangstas. He used the name "Downtown" D'Lo Brown. After the Gangstas left, he signed with the WWF and continued his training. He also wrestled in Puerto Rico for a while.
Time in WWE (1997–2003)
Joining the Nation of Domination (1997–1998)
D'Lo Brown officially joined the WWF in 1997. He became part of a wrestling group called the Nation of Domination. This group was known as "heels," which are characters who act like bad guys to get the crowd to boo them. D'Lo often wore a suit and walked to the ring with the group.
His first televised match was in April 1997. He later had his first match on Monday Night Raw, where he won against Hardcore Holly. The Nation of Domination changed over time. D'Lo and Mark Henry eventually became a "tag team," which is a team of two wrestlers. They even became "faces," meaning they started acting like good guys that fans would cheer for. D'Lo started wearing a chest protector, which he used to make his special move, the Lo Down, even stronger.
Chasing Championships (1998–1999)
In 1998, D'Lo Brown had a big moment in his career. He held two championships at the same time: the European and Intercontinental titles. This was a rare achievement, only done by a few other wrestlers.
D'Lo was involved in an accident during a match in 1999 with another wrestler named Droz. Droz suffered a serious neck injury. D'Lo has said that it was an accident and he took responsibility for the move. Droz himself has stated that he does not blame D'Lo. This event made D'Lo wrestle differently and think carefully about every move he made.
After this, D'Lo teamed up with his former Nation friend, The Godfather. However, their team ended when D'Lo turned into a bad guy again.
The Lo Down Tag Team (2000–2001)
In 2000, D'Lo formed a new tag team with Chaz called Lo Down. They often wrestled on shows like Sunday Night Heat. Later, another wrestler named Tiger Ali Singh became their manager. The team started dressing in a special way, similar to Tiger. This team was eventually removed from TV when Tiger Ali Singh got injured. D'Lo said this was a difficult time in his career.
Teaming with Theodore Long (2002–2003)
D'Lo Brown returned to TV in 2002. Later that year, Theodore Long became his manager. With Long's help, D'Lo Brown had a winning streak for several weeks. However, this partnership ended when Theodore Long replaced D'Lo with another wrestler. D'Lo was then released from his WWE contract in early 2003.
Time in TNA Wrestling (2003–2004)
After leaving WWE, D'Lo Brown joined NWA Total Nonstop Action (TNA) in March 2003. He often teamed up with AJ Styles. They even tried to win the NWA World Tag Team Championships but didn't succeed. After their team split, D'Lo challenged AJ Styles for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship several times but couldn't win the title.
In April 2004, D'Lo Brown and Gran Apolo won the NWA World Tag Team Championships. However, they lost the titles just seven days later. D'Lo left TNA in the summer of 2004.
Wrestling in Japan and the UK (2004–2009)
D'Lo Brown then went to All Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan. He joined a group called Roughly Obsess and Destroy (RO&D). He later switched to a rival group called Voodoo Murders. After leaving All Japan, he rejoined RO&D in Pro Wrestling Noah.
When he wasn't in Japan, D'Lo often wrestled in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In 2005, he was a trainer for a TV show called Celebrity Wrestling in the UK, where celebrities learned how to wrestle.
Back to WWE (2008–2009)
In 2008, D'Lo Brown returned to WWE. He wrestled in some non-televised matches before making his TV comeback on Raw in July 2008, where he won a match. However, his appearances on TV became less frequent, and he was released from his contract in January 2009.
Independent Wrestling (2009-2010)
After WWE, D'Lo Brown wrestled for other companies like Ring of Honor. He even had a match for the ROH World Championship but didn't win. He also wrestled in Japan for Pro Wrestling Noah in a tag team tournament.
In September 2009, D'Lo Brown announced that he would retire from wrestling after his tour with Ring of Honor. His last match at that time was in June 2010. He didn't wrestle again until 2013.
Return to TNA (2009–2013)
In September 2009, D'Lo Brown returned to TNA, but this time he worked behind the scenes as a "lead agent." This meant he helped plan matches and storylines. He was also in charge of finding and developing new wrestling talent.
In March 2013, D'Lo Brown surprised everyone by attacking Kurt Angle and revealing himself as the Vice President of a villainous group called Aces & Eights. This meant he turned into a "heel" again. He wrestled his first TV match in four years, losing to Kurt Angle. After this loss, he was demoted within the Aces & Eights group. He left TNA in July 2013.
More Independent Wrestling (2013-Present)
After his second time in TNA, D'Lo Brown continued to wrestle for various independent wrestling companies. He wrestled in the United States, England, and the Netherlands. His most recent match was in October 2023.
Teaching Future Stars (2014–2015)
For a period, D'Lo Brown taught a weekly wrestling class at the "Future Stars of Wrestling" training center in Las Vegas.
Back to Impact Wrestling (2019–2022)
In July 2019, D'Lo Brown announced he had signed a new contract with Impact Wrestling as a producer. This meant he would help put together the wrestling shows.
In January 2021, D'Lo Brown became one of Impact's announcers, giving commentary during the matches. He stopped this role in early 2022. He also made occasional appearances as part of the reunited Aces & Eights group. In September 2022, it was announced that D'Lo Brown had finished his time with Impact Wrestling.
D'Lo Brown's Life Outside the Ring
Accie Julius Connor, or D'Lo Brown, has an accounting degree from the University of Maine. He also played for the university's football team. Before he became a professional wrestler, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He married his wife Jennifer in 2001, and they have two daughters. He is a big fan of the Chicago Bears football team and Liverpool F.C. soccer team.
