DDT (band) facts for kids
DDT (also known as ДДТ in Russian) is a very popular Russian rock band. It started in 1980. The band's leader is Yuri Shevchuk. DDT is one of the most famous and successful music groups from Russia.
The Story of DDT
DDT began in 1980. They quickly became known for their unique sound. Even though they didn't call themselves political, Yuri Shevchuk often sang about important issues in his country. DDT was known for being a "non-conformist" group. This means they didn't always follow the usual rules. They made many albums and played concerts all over the world.
In 1988, DDT visited the United States for the first time. Their concert in Los Angeles was even shown on MTV!
A very important album for DDT was Spring the Actress, released in 1992. This album had many famous songs. Some of their biggest hits from this album include "Shto takoe osen'" (What is Autumn), "Dozd'" (Rain), and "Rodina" (Motherland). These songs are still loved by many fans.
In May 1998, the band released a new album called World number zero. This album had a different sound. It used ideas from industrial music and lots of computer technology.
Later, in 2011, DDT released another album called Otherwise. The band continues to make music and perform for their fans.
