Dadang Wigiarto was an important Indonesian politician. He was born in Pasuruan on December 20, 1966. He was a member of the National Awakening Party. Dadang Wigiarto served as the leader, or Regent, of Situbondo Regency for many years. Sadly, he passed away in Situbondo on November 26, 2020.

Dadang Wigiarto was a well-known figure in Indonesian politics. He was part of the National Awakening Party, which is a political group in Indonesia. He became the Regent of Situbondo, a role similar to a mayor or governor for a specific area.
His Time as Regent
Dadang Wigiarto first became the Regent of Situbondo in 2010. He was so popular that people chose him again in the 2015 Indonesian local elections. This meant he led Situbondo for two terms. He was still serving as Regent when he passed away in 2020.
Making Situbondo Better
During his time as Regent, Dadang Wigiarto worked hard to improve Situbondo. One big achievement was when Situbondo Regency won the Adipura trophy three times. This award is given to Indonesian cities that do a great job of keeping their environment clean.
He also started a "car free day" on Sundays. On this day, the main road in Situbondo City was closed to cars. This allowed people to walk, bike, and enjoy the city without traffic. He also encouraged government workers to pray together during work hours.
His Passing
In 2020, the world faced the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Dadang Wigiarto became sick with COVID-19. He was taken to a hospital in Situbondo. Sadly, he passed away on November 26, 2020, at the age of 53.
