Damují River facts for kids
The Damují River is an important river in Cuba. It starts in the Cienfuegos area, specifically near a town called Lajas. From there, it flows west until it reaches the beautiful Cienfuegos Bay.
This river is quite long! It passes through several towns and areas like Rodas, Palmira, Abreus, and Cienfuegos. The Damují River is known as the biggest and most important river on the southern side of Cuba. Many smaller streams and rivers flow into it, making it even bigger. The water in the Damují River is usually around 24°C, which is quite warm!
Why the Damují River is Special
The Damují River is so important that the main ships of the Cuban Navy are named after it. These ships are called the "Rio Damují class" to honor this significant waterway. It shows how much the river means to the country.
