Danby is easy to find if you're traveling on I-55, which is a major highway. The community sits right next to the western side of I-55. It's about nine miles (or 14.5 kilometers) southeast of a town called Festus.

A natural landmark near Danby is Isle du Bois Creek. This creek is important because it forms the boundary between Jefferson County and Ste. Genevieve County. The creek flows about 1.5 miles (or 2.4 kilometers) south of the Danby community.

A Look Back at Danby's History

Danby has a bit of history, especially when it comes to mail! A post office was opened in Danby way back in 1883. This post office served the community for many years, helping people send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open for over 70 years, finally closing its doors in 1955.

It's a bit of a mystery why this community was named Danby. No one knows for sure how it got its unique name!
