Danger Island was an exciting live-action TV show made by Hanna-Barbera. It was part of The Banana Splits Adventure Hour and first aired in 1968 and 1969. The show was filmed in Mexico. It was directed by Richard Donner, who later directed famous movies like Superman and The Goonies. A young actor named Jan-Michael Vincent starred as Lincoln 'Link' Simmons.
Danger Island was like a long movie broken into 36 short parts, each about ten minutes long. Every episode ended with a cliffhanger! This meant you had to watch the next episode to find out what happened. It was a live-action show, which means it used real actors, unlike the cartoons it aired with.

What is Danger Island About?
Inspired by the cartoon Jonny Quest, Danger Island tells the story of a group of explorers. They are searching for a lost city on a mysterious tropical island. The main characters are Professor Irwin Hayden, who studies old things as an archaeologist, and his young helper, Lincoln "Link" Simmons. The professor's daughter, Leslie, also joins them on their adventures.
The Search for Tobanya
Years before, the professor's brother, who was also an archaeologist, disappeared on these same islands. He was looking for a legendary lost city called Tobanya. The team hopes to find him and the city.
New Friends and Foes
On their journey, they meet Morgan, a sailor whose ship was wrecked. Morgan has a loyal friend named Chongo. Chongo communicates using sounds like a monkey or bird. The explorers face many challenges. They are chased by a group of tricky pirates led by Captain Mu-Tan. They also encounter different groups of islanders. A popular saying from the show was "Uh-oh, Chongo!"
