Daniel Jacobus Rossouw, born on June 5, 1978, is a famous former South African rugby player. He played as a forward, either in the second row or back row. Danie was well-known for playing with the Bulls in the Super Rugby competition.

He started his professional rugby journey in 1999. His first team was the Blue Bulls, where he played in the Currie Cup. In 2001, he joined the Bulls for his first Super Rugby game.

Playing for South Africa

His First World Cup

Danie Rossouw first played for the Springboks, South Africa's national team, in 2003. This was during the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia. In his very first international game against Uruguay, he scored a try.

He also played against Georgia in the same tournament, scoring two more tries. Danie played in all the remaining matches. The Springboks reached the quarterfinals but were eventually knocked out by the All Blacks.

Winning the 2007 World Cup

Danie Rossouw was a key player for the Springboks in their successful 2007 Rugby World Cup campaign. He was chosen as the main Number 8 for the team. Even though another player, Pierre Spies, was unwell, Danie's strong performances showed he deserved his spot.

He scored a try in the semifinal match against Argentina. During a tough game against Tonga, he got a neck injury and had to leave the field. Many thought his tournament was over. However, Danie recovered quickly and played a vital role in the rest of the Springboks' journey to victory. In the final game, he made an amazing try-saving tackle. This helped the Springboks win the World Cup!
