He went to school at Berwickshire High School. Later, he studied at the University of Edinburgh. There, he earned two degrees: an MA (Master of Arts) and an LLB (Bachelor of Laws), which is a law degree.

Career as a Lawyer and Judge

After finishing his studies, Daniel Blades became a lawyer.

Military Service

During World War I, from 1915 to 1918, he served in the military. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, a famous Scottish regiment.
