Life and Work
Daniel Jacoby was born in Saint-Mandé, France, on August 14, 1933. He had three children: Manuela, Anne-Carine, and Jean-David.
Helping Others
In the 1960s, Daniel Jacoby started his career as a lawyer. He worked at the Paris Court of Appeal. He defended people who were fighting for their freedom and rights. This included people from countries like Algeria and those who opposed unfair governments.
In 1970, he joined the International Federation for Human Rights (F.I.D.H.). This is a group that works to protect human rights globally.
Leading the Way
Daniel Jacoby became the president of the F.I.D.H. in 1986. He held this important role until 1995. After that, he became an honorary president.
During his time as president, he traveled to many countries. He investigated situations where people's rights were at risk. His work helped bring attention to human rights issues worldwide.
For his dedication to human rights, he received a special award. He was made an officer of the French Legion of Honor. This is one of France's highest awards.
A Talented Writer
Besides his legal work, Daniel Jacoby was also a writer. He wrote the introduction for a book called Les Inedits by Albert Cohen.
