Daniel Lacalle Fernández (born August 5, 1967) is a Spanish economist. He is also an investment manager. He teaches about global economics. Daniel Lacalle has written many books on economics. He also writes for newspapers and websites. He is known for his ideas about liberalism and conservatism. He lives in London.

Early Life and Education

Daniel Lacalle was born in Madrid, Spain. His grandfather was José Daniel Lacalle Larraga. His father, José Daniel Lacalle Sousa, was a sociologist.

Daniel studied at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He earned a degree in Economic and Business Sciences. He also studied at the IESE Business School. Later, he got a PhD in Economics. He also has a master's degree in Economic Research. This was from the Catholic University of Valencia. He is also an International Financial Analyst. Daniel has taught at the IE Business School.

Career and Economic Ideas

Daniel Lacalle started his career in 1991 at Repsol. He worked there for eleven years. He was in charge of international relations. After that, he worked at Enagás and ABN AMRO. He focused on energy and oil.

In 2005, he became a portfolio manager. He worked at a company called Citadel. A portfolio manager helps manage large investments. Later, he worked at Ecofin Limited. Between 2014 and 2015, he worked at PIMCO. This is a very large investment company. He became a vice president there.

In Spain, Daniel Lacalle is famous for his books. He also appears often in the media. He supports economic liberalism. This means he believes in less government involvement in the economy.
