Daniel Lacalle's Early Life and Learning

Daniel Lacalle comes from a family interested in economics and society. He studied Economic and Business Sciences at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He continued his education with a special degree from the IESE Business School at the University of Navarra.

He also earned a special title called International Financial Analyst (CIIA). He has a PhD in Economics and a master's degree in Economic Research from the Catholic University of Valencia. He has taught at the IE Business School, where he is still a part of the teaching team.

Daniel Lacalle's Career

Daniel Lacalle started his professional journey in March 1991 at a company called Repsol. He worked there for eleven years, handling international relationships. Later, he moved to other companies like Enagás and ABN AMRO, where he became an expert in energy and oil.

In 2005, he changed his focus to managing money for large investment funds, first at Citadel and then at Ecofin Limited. Between 2014 and 2015, he worked at PIMCO, which is one of the biggest companies for investing in bonds. There, he became a vice president.

In Spain, Daniel Lacalle is well-known for his books and for appearing in the media. He often talks about economic liberalism. This idea suggests that the government should spend less money and have less control over businesses. He also supports the idea of selling government-owned businesses to private companies.

Since 2015, Lacalle has been the Chief Economist at Tressis, a financial company. He has also led the Instituto Mises Hispano since 2017. This group helps share the ideas of the US Mises Institute in Spanish-speaking countries.
