Daniel Silva dos Santos, also known as Daniel Tijolo, was a Brazilian football player. He was born on May 30, 1982, in Cabo Frio, Brazil. Daniel played as a defensive midfielder, a position where players help protect their team's goal and also start attacks. He spent several important years of his career playing football in Japan. Sadly, Daniel passed away on February 10, 2019, in his hometown of Cabo Frio.

Daniel Tijolo: A Football Journey
Daniel Tijolo began his football journey in Brazil. He played for youth teams like Rio das Ostras from 2001 to 2002. His professional career started with Cabofriense in 2003.
Early Career in Brazil
After playing for Cabofriense, Daniel moved to Mixto-MT in 2004. He returned to Cabofriense for a longer period from 2005 to 2009. During these years, he also played on loan for several other Brazilian clubs. These included Paysandu in 2006 and Ituano in 2007. He also had loan spells at Cruzeiro and São Caetano in 2007 and 2007-2008, respectively.
Playing Football in Japan
Daniel Tijolo made a big move to Japan in 2009. He joined Ventforet Kofu, a team in the J2 League. He played many games for them, appearing in 44 matches in his first year and scoring 2 goals. He stayed with Ventforet Kofu until 2011.
In 2012, Daniel moved to Nagoya Grampus, a team in the top Japanese league, the J1 League. He played 30 games for them in 2012 and 24 games in 2013. He was a key player in the midfield for both teams.
Return to Brazil and Final Years
After his time in Japan, Daniel returned to Brazil in 2014. He played again for Cabofriense. Later that year, he also played for Vila Nova.
His last club was Oita Trinita in Japan, where he played from 2014 to 2016. He played 11 games in 2014 and 28 games in 2015 for Oita Trinita. Daniel Tijolo played a total of 193 league games throughout his career, scoring 7 goals.
