Early Years in Football

Daniel Wass spent most of his childhood playing for a club near Copenhagen called BK Avarta. In 2006, when he was about 17, Brøndby noticed his talent. He joined Brøndby and played for their youth teams. After just one year, he moved up to play for the club's main team.

Playing for Brøndby

Daniel Wass first played for Brøndby in the 2007–08 season. He played in about half of the games that season. However, he had to stop playing later due to an injury.

After he got better, Wass became a regular right defender in the 2008–09 season. He played in 28 out of 33 games. His strong play helped Brøndby finish third in the Superliga. This was their best finish in several years.

Brøndby's manager thought Wass would improve by playing at another club. So, Brøndby loaned him to Fredrikstad in Norway. Wass played his first game for Fredrikstad on 21 August 2009. He even scored a goal in a 5–0 win against Lyn. However, a new coach at Fredrikstad wasn't interested in his playing style. Wass only played three games before returning to Brøndby in December 2009. For the rest of the 2009–10 season, he played more games and became a key player for Brøndby.

The 2010–11 season showed how important Wass was to Brøndby. He was the first-choice right-back for the first 19 games. In February, Wass announced he would not sign a new contract with Brøndby. There were rumors he would move to Benfica. In March 2011, his attacking skills were noticed. His coach moved him to play as a right midfielder or winger. In his last games for Brøndby, Wass scored three goals. He helped the team finish third for the third time in a row.

Moving to Benfica and Loan to Évian

On 20 May 2011, Wass signed a five-year contract with Benfica. However, he didn't play any official games for them. On 22 July 2011, Benfica loaned him to Evian Thonon Gaillard F.C. in France. At Evian, Wass joined other Danish players.

At first, Wass didn't play much for Evian. But on 15 October 2011, he made his debut. He played in right midfield and helped set up a goal. Weeks later, he scored in two games in a row. Under a new manager, Wass became a regular player. He often played as a left-back. He scored his fourth goal of the season in a 2–1 win against Ajaccio.

Permanent Move to Évian

On 20 June 2012, Daniel Wass officially signed with Evian. He moved there permanently for about €2.5 million. In the first game of the new season, on 12 August 2012, Wass scored a free kick. This game ended in a 3–2 loss for Evian. Just like before, Wass played in many different positions. He scored another goal against Ajaccio in a 1–1 draw.

His first goal for Valencia came on 14 April 2019. It was in a 3–1 away win against Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League. Wass was a starter in the 2019 Copa del Rey Final. Valencia won the trophy 2–1 against Barcelona. This was Daniel Wass's first ever major title in his career.

On 27 November 2019, Wass scored a surprising goal. It was an overcooked cross that went straight into the net. This goal helped Valencia finish first in their UEFA Champions League group. The match ended in a 2–2 draw.

Short Spell at Atlético Madrid

On 27 January 2022, Atlético Madrid announced they had signed Daniel Wass. He signed a contract until 2023. He played his first game for the club on 6 February. He came on as a substitute in a 4–2 loss against Barcelona. This was his only game for Atlético Madrid. He got a knee injury during the game and couldn't play for the rest of the season.

Return to Brøndby

On 12 August 2022, Daniel Wass returned to Brøndby permanently. He made his first game back two days later. He started as a right-back in a 2–0 home win against OB.
