About Danijela
Danijela Martinović was born in Split, Croatia. She loved to sing from a very young age. Her sister, Izabela, is also a singer. Izabela was part of a pop group called Stijene.
Danijela's big break came in 1991. She joined a popular pop band called Magazin. Magazin was already a very famous band in Croatia and other nearby countries. Because of this, Danijela quickly became one of the biggest music stars in Croatia.
In 1995, Danijela and Magazin represented Croatia at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest. They performed a song called "Nostalgija" with opera singer Lidija Horvat-Dunjko. They did very well, finishing in 6th place out of 23 countries.
In 1996, Danijela decided to start her own solo music career. She still worked with Tonči Huljić, who was the leader and songwriter for Magazin. This partnership led to her winning the 1998 Dora contest. Dora is a competition to choose Croatia's Eurovision entry. She won with her song "Neka mi ne svane" ("May the Sun Never Rise").
Danijela then represented Croatia again at the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest. She placed even higher this time, finishing in 5th place out of 25 countries!
In 2007, Danijela joined the Croatian TV show Dancing with the Stars. She danced with Nicolas Quesnoit, who had won the first season. She was eliminated in the 5th episode of the show.
In 2010, she released a song called "Pola Pola". The next year, in 2011, she released her album Unikat.
