Biography

Early Life and Music Start

Danijela was born in Split, Croatia. She loved singing from a very young age. Her sister, Izabela, also became a singer. Danijela's big break came in 1991 when she joined a popular pop band called Magazin. Magazin was already a huge name in Croatia and other nearby countries. Joining them made Danijela a national star.

Eurovision Success

In 1995, Danijela and Magazin, along with opera singer Lidija Horvat-Dunjko, represented Croatia at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest. They sang a song called "Nostalgija". They did very well, finishing in 6th place out of 23 countries.

In 1996, Danijela decided to leave Magazin to start her own solo music career. She continued to work with Tonči Huljić, who was the leader and songwriter for Magazin. This partnership helped Danijela win the Dora contest in 1998. She won with her ballad "Neka mi ne svane" ("May the Sun Never Rise"). This meant she would represent Croatia again at the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest. She performed wonderfully, coming in 5th place out of 25 countries.

Solo Career and TV Appearances

In 2007, Danijela joined the Croatian TV show Dancing with the Stars. She danced with Nicolas Quesnoit, who had won the first season of the show. Danijela was eliminated in the 5th episode.

In December 2010, she released a song called "Pola Pola". The next year, in 2011, she released her album Unikat. In 2012, she presented her song "Brodolom" ("Shipwreck") at the SPLIT music festival in Croatia. This song became a huge summer hit in Croatia. It quickly gained more than 3 million views on YouTube in less than a month.
