Daphne Fedarb was an important British artist. She was born in London in 1912. Daphne became known for her amazing landscape paintings. She showed her art in many famous galleries.

Daphne's Art Education

Daphne loved art from a young age. She started her art studies in 1928. First, she went to the Beckenham School of Art. She studied there until 1930. After that, she attended the Slade School of Art. She learned new skills at Slade from 1931 to 1934.

Later, from 1936 to 1939, Daphne studied at the Westminster School of Art. Here, she had famous teachers. Two of her teachers were Mark Gertler and Bernard Meninsky. They helped her become a better artist.

Her Artistic Journey and Family

In 1932, Daphne married another artist. His name was Ernest Fedarb. They often worked together. In 1935, they had their first art show. It was at the Fine Art Society in London. This was a big step for them.

They continued to show their art together. A notable joint exhibition was in 1986. This show took place at Sally Hunter Fine Art.

Exhibitions and Awards

Daphne Fedarb was a very active artist. She showed her paintings often. From 1961 to 1973, she regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy in London. This is a very famous art institution.

She also showed her work with other art groups. These included the New English Art Club and the London Group. Her art was even displayed in America.

Daphne was a member of several art societies. She joined the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Gravers / Printmakers. She was also part of the Women's International Art Club.

In 1948, she became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA). This was a great honor. She won the RBA De Laszlo medal in 1982. This award recognized her talent.

Daphne also won prizes for her landscape paintings. In 1981, she won first prize in the Laing Landscape competition. Two years later, in 1983, she won second prize in the same contest. Daphne Fedarb passed away in 1992. Her art continues to be remembered.
