Darren Charles Barnet (born April 27, 1991) is an American actor. He is famous for his role as Paxton Hall-Yoshida in the popular Netflix show Never Have I Ever.

Early Life and Education

Darren Charles Barnet was born on April 27, 1991, in Los Angeles. His mother has Swedish and Japanese family roots. His father's family is from Germany and Cherokee descent. Darren's grandfather was swing musician Charlie Barnet. Darren also has an older sister and a younger sister.

When Darren was 12 years old, he and his mother moved to the suburbs of Orlando, Florida. He finished high school at Dr. Phillips High School in 2009. There, he was the lacrosse team captain. He then went to Berry College and earned a degree in 2013. While in college, he acted in plays and short films. Darren wanted to be an actor since he was five, but he didn't seriously start acting until college. Besides English, he can speak Japanese and some Spanish. He has also studied French.

Acting Career

After college in 2013, Darren Barnet moved back to Los Angeles to become an actor. He worked at a fitness studio called SoulCycle before getting his first acting jobs. He made his acting debut in 2017.

In 2017, Darren appeared in single episodes of TV shows like This Is Us, S.W.A.T., and Criminal Minds. In 2018, he played Hot Seth in the web series Turnt. That same year, he was in the TV movie Instakiller.

In 2019, Darren had an episode role in the Netflix sitcom Family Reunion.

Becoming a Star in Never Have I Ever

In April 2020, Darren Barnet started starring in the Netflix teen comedy-drama series Never Have I Ever. He plays Paxton Hall-Yoshida, who is the main character Devi Vishwakumar's crush. Devi is played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.

Both Never Have I Ever and Darren's acting received great reviews. Netflix shared that 40 million homes around the world watched the series when it first came out.

Other Roles and Projects

In 2021, Darren was part of the cast in the horror comedy movie Untitled Horror Movie. This film was available on Prime Video, iTunes, and Vudu. Critics and viewers liked the movie, especially the actors' performances. In July 2021, he returned as Paxton Hall-Yoshida for the second season of Never Have I Ever. In November 2021, Darren starred in the Netflix Christmas romantic comedy movie Love Hard.

In April 2022, Darren Barnet became the first male brand ambassador for Victoria's Secret PINK. He helped launch their "Gender Free" clothing line. Later that month, he voiced the main character Yuichi Usagi in the Netflix animated action-comedy series Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles.

Darren continued his role in the third and fourth seasons of Never Have I Ever.

He also voiced Taigen in Netflix's action-adventure anime series Blue Eye Samurai. He was the voice of the main character Jak in the video game Immortals of Aveum, which came out in August 2023.

Darren played Matty Davis in the sports movie Gran Turismo. This film is based on the real story of Jann Mardenborough.

His recent movie releases include the 2023 romantic comedy film Anyone But You. He also appeared in Road House, an action film starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

Currently, Darren is voicing the character Kenji Kon in the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous sequel series called Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. He took over the role from Ryan Potter.
