David Barclay Moore is an American filmmaker and writer. He lives in both Brooklyn, New York, and Los Angeles, California. In 2018, he won the Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe Author Award for New Talent. He received this award for his book The Stars Beneath Our Feet, which is a novel for middle school readers.

Early Life and Education
David Barclay Moore grew up in Missouri. He studied film at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He also studied creative writing at Iowa State University. Later, he learned languages at L'Universite de Montpelier in France.
Before becoming a well-known author, Moore worked in film. He produced movies and helped non-profit groups with their communication efforts.
His Famous Book
Moore's first book, The Stars Beneath Our Feet, came out on September 19, 2017. It was published by Knopf Books. The story is about a 12-year-old boy from Harlem. He is trying to cope after his older brother passes away.
The book was praised by many important groups. These included the American Library Association (ALA) and The New York Times. It also received good reviews from Booklist and Publishers Weekly.
Awards and Movie Adaptation
In 2018, David Barclay Moore received the Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe Author Award for New Talent. This award recognizes new African American authors and illustrators of children's books.
His book, The Stars Beneath Our Feet, is now being made into a movie. Michael B. Jordan's company, Outlier Society Productions, is creating the film. David Barclay Moore is writing the movie script himself. He is also an executive producer for the film.
