His Family Life
On October 19, 1637, David Carnegie married Lady Jean Maule. She was the daughter of Patrick Maule, who was the 1st Earl of Panmure. Together, David and Jean had seven children. Their children included:
- David Carnegie, 3rd Earl of Northesk, who was born in November 1643 and later became the 3rd Earl.
- James Carnegie, who married Anna Maitland.
- Patrick Carnegie, who had two marriages and was an ancestor of future Earls of Northesk.
- Alexander Carnegie, who also married twice.
- Robert Carnegie, who sadly passed away when he was young.
- Jean Carnegie, who married Colin Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Balcarres.
- Magdalen Carnegie, who married John Moodie of Ardbikie.
David Carnegie passed away on December 12, 1679. His legacy continued through his children and the Earls of Northesk who followed him.
