David Fifita (born on June 28, 1989) is a professional rugby league player. He is from Tonga and has played for their national team. David is known for playing as a prop, which is a strong forward position in rugby league.
He has played for several teams, including the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in Australia's top league, the NRL. He also spent many years playing for Wakefield Trinity in the Super League in England. More recently, he played for The Entrance Tigers in Australia.

About David Fifita
David Fifita was born in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia. He went to Patrician Brothers' College, Blacktown and Blacktown Boys High School.
David has both Indigenous Australian and Tongan family roots. He started playing junior rugby league for local teams like St Patricks Blacktown and Doonside Roos. Later, he was signed by the Wests Tigers.
David has a twin brother named Andrew Fifita, who also played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. His cousin, David Fifita, plays for the Gold Coast Titans. David's older brother, Latu Fifita, also plays rugby league.
David's Rugby League Journey
Early Career Highlights
In 2009, David played for the Wests Tigers' youth team. The next year, in 2010, he played for Tonga alongside his brother. In 2011, he moved up to play for the Tigers' senior teams in the New South Wales Cup.
At the end of 2012, David joined the Lézignan Sangliers team in France. After his season there in June 2013, two big Australian clubs, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and Melbourne Storm, became interested in him.
He decided to sign with the Sharks for the rest of the 2013 NRL season. This was the same club where his twin brother Andrew played. After playing six games for the Sharks in the NSW Cup, he signed a new contract for 2014.
David was part of the Sharks team that won the 2013 NSW Cup championship. They beat the Windsor Wolves 38-6 in the grand final.
Playing in the NRL
In 2014, David made his first appearance in the NRL for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. This happened in Round 2 against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. In July 2014, he signed a new two-year contract with the Sharks.
In 2015, David was chosen to play for the Indigenous All Stars team. This was a special game against the NRL All Stars. Later that year, he was also selected for Tonga's team to qualify for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. He played in that important match for Tonga.
In 2016, David played for Tonga again, this time against Samoa. In June of that year, he left the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and joined Wakefield Trinity in the Super League in England. He quickly became a favorite among fans at Wakefield because of his strong playing style.
Time with Wakefield Trinity
David played for Wakefield Trinity for seven seasons.
- In 2017, he played 21 games for Wakefield, and the team surprised many by finishing fifth in the league.
- In 2018, he played 17 games as the team finished seventh.
- In 2019, David played 22 games for Wakefield.
- In 2020, he played nine games for Wakefield.
- In 2021, David played 25 games for Wakefield Trinity.
- In 2022, David scored a try in a game against Toulouse Olympique. After seven seasons, he announced he would leave Wakefield Trinity at the end of the year. His last game for Wakefield was a close loss to Huddersfield. After leaving Wakefield, he joined The Entrance Tigers in Australia.
Return to Wakefield
In May 2023, David announced he would return to play for Wakefield Trinity. The club had lost its first 13 matches of the season. David made his return in a game against Leigh. In his next game, he helped Wakefield win 24-14 against Leeds, ending their long losing streak.
David played 12 matches for Wakefield Trinity in the 2023 season. Unfortunately, the club finished last in the league and was moved down to the RFL Championship. This ended their 24-year stay in the top league.
