The Battle of Arbroath
In 1445, a big fight happened at a place called Arbroath. This battle was between Clan Lindsay and their rivals, Clan Ogilvy. Clan Ogilvy also had help from other clans like Clan Oliphant, Clan Gordon, Clan Seton, and Clan Forbes of Pitsligo.
David Lindsay, the Earl of Crawford, tried to stop the fighting. He bravely rode between the two armies, hoping to make peace. Sadly, during this attempt, he was accidentally killed by a spear, and the battle began. Even though their leader had fallen, Clan Lindsay fought well and won the battle.
Family Life
David Lindsay married a woman named Marjory Ogilvie. She was the daughter of Alexander Ogilvie of Auchterhouse. Together, they had several children.

- Alexander Lindsay, 4th Earl of Crawford: He became the 4th Earl of Crawford after his father. He was sometimes called "Tiger Earl" or "Earl Beardie." He married Elizabeth Dunbar. His son, David Lindsay, 5th Earl of Crawford, later became a very important person, the Duke of Montrose.
