Sir David Bower Mitchell (born June 20, 1928 – died August 30, 2014) was a British politician. He was a member of the Conservative Party. Sir David served as a Member of Parliament for over 30 years. He also worked as a junior minister in Margaret Thatcher's government.

Early Life and Education
David Mitchell was born in Buckinghamshire, England. He went to Aldenham School in Hertfordshire. After school, he worked as a wine shipper and merchant. This means he bought and sold wine.
Political Career Highlights
Sir David Mitchell started his political journey as a local councillor. He served on the St Pancras Borough Council from 1956 to 1959.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
He first became a Member of Parliament (MP) in 1964. An MP is someone elected to represent people in the UK Parliament. He represented the area of Basingstoke until 1983.
From 1983, he represented Hampshire North West. He continued as an MP until he retired in 1997.
