David Ngoombujarra (born David Bernard Starr, 27 June 1967 – 17 July 2011) was an Indigenous Australian actor. He was a member of the Yamatji people, an Aboriginal group from Western Australia.
David was born in Meekatharra, Western Australia. He had a successful acting career that lasted more than 20 years, from the 1980s to 2010. During this time, he won three important awards called the Australian Film Institute Awards. He passed away on 17 July 2011 in Fremantle.
About David's Life
David Ngoombujarra was adopted by Amy and Derek Sloan. He met his birth mother when he was 14 years old. Later, he moved to Sydney, hoping to become a famous actor.
He started getting small roles in movies like Young Einstein. This happened after people saw him busking (performing music or acting in public for money) in a place called Circular Quay. David was known for his big smile and loud laugh, which helped him get noticed in the acting world.
David had a daughter who was later adopted by his cousin, the actor Ernie Dingo.
