David Qajaakuttuk Qamaniq is a Canadian politician from Nunavut. He was elected to represent the area of Tununiq in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. This happened in a special by-election on September 16, 2019.
Before becoming a member of the Legislative Assembly, David Qamaniq was the mayor of Pond Inlet. He had run for the same position in earlier elections but was finally elected in 2019.

David Qamaniq was born on February 27, 1961. When he was younger, he was a stage actor. He traveled with the Tunooniq Theatre company. They performed plays based on Inuit stories and culture.
Notable Performance
He was especially known for his role in the 1993 play Whale. This play was written by David Holman. For his acting in Whale, David Qamaniq was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award. This award celebrates excellent performances in Canadian theatre.
