Joe Enook (born 1957 – died 2019) was an important Canadian politician from Nunavut. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut, representing the area of Tununiq. Joe Enook was born in 1957 near a place called Pond Inlet in Nunavut. He became a well-known politician. He passed away in 2019 at the age of 61 after a short illness. At the time, he was still serving in his important role.
Representing Tununiq
Joe Enook was first chosen to represent the area of Tununiq in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. This happened in a special election called a by-election on September 12, 2011. People liked his work, so he was chosen again in the regular elections in 2013 and 2017.
Leading the Assembly
In 2017, Joe Enook was chosen to be the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. This is a very important job. The Speaker makes sure that meetings run smoothly and that everyone follows the rules. He held this position until he passed away in March 2019.
Promoting Inuktitut
