David Edward Walker, born in 1941, is a retired American television news anchor. He is well-known for working alongside his wife, Lois Hart, as a news anchor team for almost 30 years. They started together in 1980 at CNN and later worked at KCRA in Sacramento, California until 2008.
Early Life
David Walker grew up in Tampa, Florida. He finished high school at Henry B. Plant High School in 1960. Later, he went to the University of South Florida. In 1964, he earned a degree in sociology there.
A Career in News
David Walker started his career in journalism in the 1960s. He worked at TV stations in Orlando, Florida, like WFTV and WESH-TV. In the 1970s, he moved to Sacramento, California. There, he worked at KOVR and KCRA.
Joining CNN
In 1980, Walker and his wife, Lois Hart, moved to Atlanta, Georgia. They joined a brand new news channel called CNN. They were among the very first anchors to broadcast news on CNN.
Working at CNBC
In 1989, David Walker joined another new channel, CNBC. He was the anchor for its first news program.
Returning to Sacramento
In 1990, Walker and Hart decided to return to Sacramento. They continued to anchor evening news broadcasts at KCRA. They worked there together until 2008. On November 26, 2008, both David Walker and Lois Hart retired from KCRA.
