Dawn Steele is a Scottish actress born on December 11, 1975. She is famous for playing many different characters on TV. Some of her well-known roles include Lexie MacDonald in the BBC show Monarch of the Glen. She also played Alice Trevanion in the ITV series Wild at Heart. Another important role was Dr. Annie Jandhu/Murdoch in the BBC soap opera River City. Dawn Steele also starred as Ange Godard in BBC's Holby City, which finished in March 2022. More recently, she appeared in the BBC crime series Granite Harbour.

Dawn Steele's Acting Journey
Early Life and Training
Dawn Steele was born in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1982, her family moved to Milton of Campsie. She went to Kilsyth Academy from about 1987 to 1993. After school, she studied acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow. She was there from 1994 to 1998. To support herself during her studies, she worked as a waitress.
Dawn graduated with top honors in July 1998. She also won the silver medal at the RSAMD that same year. This showed how talented she was from the very beginning of her career.
Famous TV Roles
One of Dawn's most recognized roles was Lexie MacDonald. She played this character in the BBC drama Monarch of the Glen. She was part of the show from 1999 to 2004, appearing in seasons one through six.
In January 2005, Dawn joined the second season of the BBC show Sea of Souls. She played a new character named Justine McManus. She worked alongside actors Iain Robertson and Bill Paterson in this paranormal drama. Before Sea of Souls, she had worked with Iain Robertson on other projects.
In January 2006, Dawn returned for the third season of Sea of Souls. She also appeared on a special celebrity version of the BBC reality show Fame Academy. This show helped raise money for the charity Comic Relief.
Stage and Other Appearances
In April 2007, Dawn performed in a play called Rainbow Kiss. This play was shown at the Royal Court Theatre in London. She played a character named Shazza. Critics praised her performance in the play.
In November 2007, Dawn tried something new. She made her first appearance in a pantomime. She played the Wicked Witch Carrion in Sleeping Beauty at the King's Theatre, Glasgow.
In 2009, Dawn returned to TV in the fourth season of ITV's Wild at Heart. She played a new character, Alice Collins. She took over from actress Amanda Holden in the show.
In the summer of 2009, Dawn was a guest presenter for a week. She hosted STV's daily lifestyle show The Hour. She worked alongside the main host, Stephen Jardine.
Dawn continued her role as Alice in Wild at Heart. She appeared in the fifth season in 2010 and the sixth season as Alice Trevanion. The show ended, and Dawn returned for the very last episode. This was a two-hour special shown on December 30, 2012.
In 2011, Dawn toured the UK with the Agatha Christie Theatre Company. She starred in the play Verdict, playing Lisa Koletzky. In May 2012, she returned to the stage for a UK tour of Noël Coward's Volcano. She played Melissa Littleton, and the show later moved to London's West End.
Dawn also appeared in the BBC Crime Drama Case Histories. She played Charlotte McGill in the show, which aired in June 2013. In 2014, she performed in the stage show of the Peter James novel The Perfect Murder.
Recent TV Work
In October 2015, Dawn joined the cast of the BBC Scotland drama River City. She played Dr. Annie Jandhu. Dawn left River City in 2018. She said that traveling from her home in Kent to film the show was too much.
On September 19, 2018, it was announced that Dawn had joined the BBC medical drama Holby City. She took on the role of consultant general surgeon Ange Godard. Her first appearance in the show was in January 2019. Holby City finished in March 2022.
In 2023, Dawn appeared in the BBC TV drama series Shetland. She played the character Stella Quinn in the eighth series. In 2024, she was in another BBC TV drama series, Granite Harbour, playing Cora Macmillan.
