Dawn Steele is a Scottish actress born on 11 December 1975. She is well-known for playing different characters in popular TV shows. You might know her as Lexie MacDonald from the BBC drama Monarch of the Glen. She also played Alice Trevanion in the ITV series Wild at Heart.
More recently, Dawn was Dr. Annie Jandhu/Murdoch in the BBC soap opera River City. She also played Ange Godard in the BBC medical drama Holby City until it finished in 2022. She has also appeared in the BBC crime series Granite Harbour.
Becoming an Actress
Dawn Steele was born in Glasgow, Scotland. When she was about seven years old, her family moved to Milton of Campsie. She went to Kilsyth Academy from 1987 to 1993.
After school, Dawn studied acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow. This is now called the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She studied there from 1994 to 1998. To help pay for her studies, she worked as a waitress. She finished her studies with top marks in 1998. She even won a special silver medal from the RSAMD that year.
Famous TV Roles
Dawn's most famous role was playing Lexie MacDonald in the BBC drama Monarch of the Glen. She was in the show from 1999 to 2004. This show was about a family living in a big castle in the Scottish Highlands.
In 2005, Dawn joined the second season of the BBC show Sea of Souls. This was a paranormal drama, meaning it was about spooky or mysterious events. She played a new character named Justine McManus. She had worked with some of her co-stars before, like Iain Robertson.
In 2009, Dawn returned to TV in the fourth season of ITV's Wild at Heart. She played a new character, Alice Collins. This show was set in a wildlife park in South Africa.
